wouldn't inflate correctly - Do not buy, it broke before played with Reviewer: Gary R. Staley 09-03-2005 My son is devastated, we blew it up and it was all mis-shapen, tried to apply pressure to even it out and it popped. WARNING - DO NOT BUY THIS TOY.

GRRRRRRR!!! Reviewer: Francis Massachusetts, USA 06-04-2005 I really dont like this toy at all. When I used it out side on a day that wasn't windy it flew away and i never found it.It could still be flying right now.But it is in a better place now.

Waste of time Reviewer: Kitara Tokyo, Japan 12-12-2004 It was fun the first day and that was it. It ripped so easily that it wasn't worth the money.

Awesome!!! Reviewer: Anonymous 11-09-2004 I got this toy last Christmas and it is so cool. You can fill it with helium and it flies great.
List of things you can do with it:
1.Throw it as high as you can.
2.See who can throw it farther.
3.Play catch
4.Just throw it around.
However,it is not very durable and rips easily.
I would definatly reccomend this product.

Don't take it outside Reviewer: MDE San Jose, CA United States 08-23-2004 We have two of these that have lasted 8 months and are still going. We did have one that went outside and that was the end of it. Once in a while we'll fill them with helium, which the kids love. If you have a large room for them to throw them around it, they'll love it.

Hoover Disc Reviewer: Sammy Duluth, GA) 08-17-2004 A complete waste of money....ripped the 2nd day & although we patched it, continues to deflate. I would definitely say to never buy one. The material used is not durable & it rips too easy.

Not worth the cost Reviewer: R. Thompson Burlington Township, NJ 07-27-2004 This hover disc needs to be made with a more durable material. It ripped the first day. I bought 3 of these and so far 2 of them failed. I would like a refund!

FUN Reviewer: Anonymous 07-12-2004 I love this toy but the first day I got it, it worked fine. The second day was a different story (It got trown softly) and stuck in a tree I finally got it down and oh my gosh it wouldn't flie at all. It was flat. We couln't find the hole so I just had to throw it away not to mention the $12 . I would not recomand this. Unless you want to throw away 2 things $12 and a great toy.

Very Short-Lived Fun! Reviewer: Anonymous 06-04-2004 I saw this in a store and bought it for my son's birthday. Invited 2 neighbor boys over for cake and afterwards opened the presents - this one was the one they all wanted to play with. Didn't have helium so blew it up using the enclosed straw- so far so good. I thought they'd toss it around the living room (gently, but what do I know) , but they ran outside with it. 5 fun-filled soaring tosses and 3 minutes later it was torn from edge to edge and that was the end of that. Just looked at their web site - says you can tape it together and should be OK, but previous reviewer seems to have had a poor resolution with that. If this was made with a little (

This is a disposable toy!!!! Reviewer: Anonymous 05-10-2004 While my son absolutely loved playing with this toy for about 1 or 2 hours, it is truly a "disposable" item. After about an hour of play, the thing totally gave out. It is made out of mylar so I guess I shouldn't have expected it to be durable. (...) If you are watching your pocketbook, I would say to pass. This is a great concept, they just need to figure out how to make it with something more durable!

awesome Reviewer: Josh Caccamise Webster, NY USA 04-25-2004 this toy is awesome because you can do cool tricks and its fun. i got mine 4 my b-day, once i opened it i totally exploded. on a 5 star 4 fun u should get it

Hover Disc is one-time-use...ours flew away! Reviewer: "stubbyfranky" Philadelphia 04-22-2004 I bought the hover disc for my 3 1/2 year old son. I read the packaging thoroughly and it indicated that if you would like it to "hover" you should fill it with helium rather than air (and don't use it in windy conditions). Well, we went to the store, filled it with helium, took it to the park (it was not at all windy) and my son threw it in the air and it hovered...and hovered...and hovered...all the way across the river!!! Needless to say my son was extremely upset and for that matter so was I!! I wrote the company but have not heard back from them. The manufacturer needs to warn consumers not to fill with helium for outside use! (Even the description on Amazon.com doesn't warn us!)

"High Strength Material"? Uh, Try Again... Reviewer: "stubbyfranky" 04-20-2004 While it's obvious my three kids haven't followed in dear old Dad's footsteps when it comes to taking care of their toys, i.e., anal, bordering on fanatical, I still found it hard to believe that the Space Invasion Hover Disc's lifespan at Casa Paull, from leaving the packaging to entering the trash, was merely a few hours. Don't get me wrong - in the proper hands and in the proper setting, there are a lot worse ways to spend an hour or two. The disc is like an oversized, inflatable, lighter-than-air Frisbee which, if launched properly, is capable of some pretty impressive hangtime. Unfortunately, its fusilage is little more than light-gauge aluminum foil, i.e., Mylar, and prone to ripping upon contact with tree branches. Once that happens, it's time to take the kids inside and dry their tears, crack open a brew, and chalk it up to experience because there's no way mend this thing once it get a hole in it. Believe me, I tried. Your results may vary...

Fun but fragile (but what do you expect from a balloon? Reviewer: Michael F. Frey "copperpop" 04-12-2004 The Hover Disc is a pretty fun toy. As I write this my 6 1/2 year old son is trying to go out into a dark moonless night to play with the one he got today.
The toy is pretty basic. So that the reader is not mislead this is effectively a giant mylar ballon. The big difference is that the balloon is encircled with a metal ring that creates a rigid edge and allows it to be thrown. While you could consider this "cheap" I think it is extremely inventive.
It takes a bit to throw the disc "well" but it takes no effort to make it fly (as long as you don't care where it goes). The disc needs to be used in an area that would be suitable for flying a kite. Its just too big for a normal house. You want to avoid trees etc.
The balloon itself is pretty durable but you need to take a bit of caution with it. It is easy to overfill which if taken too far could warp the metal ring. Also the tape that seals the metal ring will fall off pretty quickly but a little packing tape (as per the instructions) does seem to seal it back up quickly and effectively.
Finally if you were to buy a "party" Mylar balloon of this size you would probably pay more for the balloon than the typical price of one of these discs. Taking that into account its not a bad deal.

Hover Disks Are Fun Reviewer: Sdo "energeticlove" Los Angeles, CA 03-21-2004 It's more like addictive. Just fill it up with air and you're set. Since it's like a giant balloon but with more flexibility you can play with it indoors or outside. I wouldn't recommend helium b/c it would fly away, plus regular air works fine. My family has used it inside our home, parking lots, parks, and at the beach. It didn't break but do not use it in windy areas, even though we did have fun chasing after it, it could have flown away. Also use common sense, don't play with it where there's sharp objects obviously that's how it's gonna tear and break.

Mother of a three year old Reviewer: Anonymous 03-05-2004 DON'T BUY IT! First of all, ours had a hole in it upon taking it out of the package. The material is the same as a mylar balloon, not durable at all for outside use. I was a bit surprised to read the instructions which state how to repair it with tape!
In order for it to "hover", it needs to be filled with helium, when filled with air it's like a big frisbee. Overall, we spent more time repairing the holes in it over and over again than playing with it. Not worth the money.

A good concept but poorly executed Reviewer: Anonymous Western Australia 01-28-2006 My little brother got one of these for his birthday, the instant he saw it he couldn't wait to play with it. So we open up the box, pull out the cool-looking toy and I proceed to blow it up with the enclosed straw. The instructions stated to be careful how much air I put into it so as to not over-inflate and bend the frame.
I inflated until I felt it was enough, tried it and... it didn't float much at all. Inflated it a bit more and the frame bent... I'm guessing helium is the way to go with these things - but still, could have made it a little more durable with the frame.
Ours hasn't ripped yet, it's hit the gravel at some high speeds a couple times but never trees or anything so I don't know what'll happen then.
All in all, with the proper air and care (hehe rhymes) this is a great toy, just don't expect it to last too long or fly well with regular air.
