The key is to follow directions...

I am amazed to see that so many people are unable to follow the directions; when used as instructed, this little gadget is a miracle.
I've always hated peeling hardboiled eggs; the little bits of shell, the ones that won't come off smoothly. But this simple air-pusher changed all that- now they come clean with one or two pushes! Ten minutes in ice water is the key.
I love the thing, and would not like to be without it. 5 stars for sure!

If you can't figure this out, you're an idiot!

Got my eggstractor today as a white elephant gift - thought it was the most retarded thing in the world! But on my first try, it came out perfectly. If you actually FOLLOW the instructions, this thing works! You poke a hole in the top, crush the bottom, throw it in and BOOM! It's really not that hard. There were a few little egg pieces left over, which took me all of about 1 second to brush off. Heck of a lot faster than pealing the whole thing myself! You can't expect any invention to be perfectly flawless, so if you're complaining because of the small egg pieces that you had to brush off, get over it! If you're complaining about the egg exploding (I read that somewhere in someone else's review), then cook your eggs right! Again, follow the instructions and you will like this handy little gadget. Do not purchase this if you are an incompetent whiner!

I purchased the Eggstractor, brought it home, followed all of the special instructions (which are many) and had NOT ONE SINGLE egg turn out!! I tried all of the trouble-shooting "tips" and wasted a dozen eggs. TOTAL JUNK!!!!!!

    What a mess

I was cleaning up pieces of egg for an hour, hardly a time saver. Instead of nicely peeling the eggs, most of them kind of exploded.

Good Concept But It Just Doesn't Work
Reviewer: L. C Parks "xHale"   Maryland, USA    08-15-2004
We have all been enticed by the commercial. No more messy peeling jobs. Well, you're in for a real disappointment if you think purchasing this Eggstractor (or, as we like to call it our "EggSploder") will make peeling eggs an easy task. You'll be frustrated at the results: eggs that look like they experienced the worst peel job ever.

We tested this contraption on 12 eggs and the results were all poor. Not one egg "popped" out entirely unpeeled. Most exploded into bits and pieces of egg and shell. And some, the yolk popped out leaving the white and shell intact (pretty amazing trick). Others came out looking like they had been peeled by a 2 year old.

The concept is there. The only problem is: How do we peel really fresh eggs? Yes, "fresh eggs". The way around any bad peeling experience is to purchase your eggs at least 2 weeks prior to your peeling date. Sounds strange, but the older the eggs are, the easier they peel. If an egg peels easily, then you can bet a dollar that it's an "older" egg.

So, if you can plan your "egg events", then you can save a couple of $$, as well as your sanity. Oh...and your pantry will be less cluttered because this contraption will ultimately end up in the back corner next to the sandwich grill and bread maker.

Hate it. Maybe there's a knack to it, but I haven't found it yet. Waste of money except for the egg slicer that came with it.
