AEROBED

Description: AeroBed can be set up anywhere making it a more convenient option than a sofabed. Plus, the patented One Touch comfort control adjusts the bed to your guest's desired firmness.     Sprung a leak after first use
Reviewer: Anonymous   Los Angeles    09-13-2004
I bought a raised Aerobed and it sprung a leak in a seam with the first use. It was not punctured. The leak was in a seam that apparently didn't seal well, but as much as they cost, they should be better quality than that. I tried the patch kit that comes with the bed, but the leak is on a seam so it didn't help at all. I couldn't use it that first night I needed it and haven't been able to use it since. I had to sleep on the floor while my guests used my bed. Very frustrating.

Sprung a leak in a seam during first use
Reviewer: Anonymous   Glendale, California    11-30-2004
My raised Aerobed also sprung a leak in a seam during the first use. We also tried patching it, but it did not work because the leak is in a seam. Obviously it was not sealed properly at the factory. And, I agree, it should have been better quality considering the price you pay for them. I was very disappointed and haven't had it out of the bag since I tried setting it up the first time.

    Highly Recommended

We have had a number of visitors use this mattress and all have been happy with their sleep. We have had no problems with leaks or any other problems. I would highly recommend this product.

    Convenient for Travel
Reviewer: Anonymous       08-17-2003
Cleaning the bed is easy. If you get stains on the mattress you need to take a damp cloth and dab the stain out. If you have a bad stain, the company recommends a clear liquid dish detergent without dye.
A big plus about this bed is the size it deflates to and the convenience of traveling with it.

    A Great Product
Reviewer: Anonymous       06-06-2004
To my surprise, this bed was actually very comfortable. It didn’t deflate on me while I slept. The bed set up only took seconds. This is a great product!

    Comfortable & Durable
Reviewer: Anonymous       11-26-2003
My experience with this bed is nothing less than excellent. I shared it with my 80 pound German Shepherd- plus at least 4 of my cats. So it's really durable. And it was comfortable! I love its convenience and compactness when deflated. I also love how I can adjust the firmness to my preference. I've slept on futons and pull out couches, and the Aerobed definitely beats them hands down.

    Buyer Beware!
Reviewer: Anonymous       02-14-2003
Within the first few weeks, a small hole appeared on the bottom of the bed. I patched it, but another hole appeared shortly after that. I got tired of patching holes, so I called them for a replacement. The replacement also had leaks. This is a terribly made product! Buyer beware.

    Easy to Use
Reviewer: Anonymous       12-28-2002
Aerobed is more comfortable then a couch, and more comfortable then a convertible sofa. It's also quite easy to use and very portable.

    A Waste Of Money
Reviewer: Anonymous       11-11-2003
This bed is a waste of money. It doesn't matter how comfortable it is when inflated, because you have to reinflate it two or three times a night to keep your tailbone off the hardwood. It's not worth a cent.

    Leaks!
Reviewer: Anonymous       07-16-2004
The bed sprung a leak & is absolutely no good to me.

    Worked Great!
Reviewer: Anonymous       10-12-2003
I was initially a skeptic, but must confess that the Aero Bed worked great, and gave me a good night's sleep. It inflated in less than 5 minutes, and deflated & rolled up quickly as well.

    Pleasantly Suprised
Reviewer: Anonymous       03-17-2004
I was pleasantly suprised that the unit was very well made. The seams are sturdy, the material is thick, and the pump and valve are first-rate.

    It Leaked
Reviewer: Anonymous       01-07-2005
Although it worked well for a brief period of time, it eventually leaked. I kept waking up feeling like I was in a rescue rubber raft.

    A Total Waste
Reviewer: Anonymous       12-14-2004
After just 3 months, it started to leak. The hassles with customer service were unbelievable. What a waste of time & money!

    Threw It Away
Reviewer: Anonymous       12-02-2004
I had to throw it away after having it for a little over a year. It had numerous leaks that could not be patched.

    Not Built To Last
Reviewer: Anonymous       08-06-2004
For the first six months, the AeroBed was simply incredible. Then the leaks started to come. Clearly this is a product that is not built to last. I regret spending the $180.00 for this bed.

    I Love It!
Reviewer: Anonymous       07-16-2004
I love this bed! I use it when company comes and when I go camping. The bed pumps up very fast and is ready in minutes. It stores great and when you're ready for it, its ready to go to work and give who ever sleeps on it a great nights sleep.

    No Regrets
Reviewer: Anonymous       06-03-2004
I have no regrets about purchasing this bed. I have used it many times when company comes & there's never been a word of complaint, only compliments.

    Worth the Price
Reviewer: Anonymous       03-20-2004
The AeroBed is more than just the typical air mattress. It feels more like an innerspring mattress and less like a glorified swimming pool raft. It is well worth the price.

    It Deflated
Reviewer: Anonymous       03-17-2004
I think this was designed for occasional use only. Two months after buying it, it started to deflate.

    This mattress is exellent!
Reviewer: Anonymous   Newark, Delaware    07-23-2005
I was blown away over this mattress. I was having some back problems sleeping on a futon mattress and was shocked by how much mattress' cost (esp. without knowing what kind of mattress would give me relief). I decided to buy the aerobed twin figuring that, since it was adjustable, I could at least use it as a yardstick to make the right decision on a mattress in the future. No need. This thing is amazing! I've never slept better . I actually get GIDDY before bed with anticipation even after having this mattress for several months! (this from a 36 year old man!). I have no more back pain, the bed is very easy to change sheets with because it's light as a feather, and I spent next to nothing for it! I also have not had any leaking problems that a few of the other reviewers have mentioned - I maybe lucky but I suspect that these reviewers are probably using this as a temporary bed and are not inspecting the spaces where they're placing it. I use this as my regular bed and I could not be more pleased with my purchase. This was a home run.

    Aerobed serves the need
Reviewer: Eileen D.   Chicago    09-11-2005
We've had some in the past and this one was like the other, easy to put up and put away and quite comfortable to sleep on. The kids can't help but to jump on it and it stands up to it.

    Less than 8 hrs sleep
Reviewer: David W. Cameron   WV, USA    06-17-2005
My main concern on the mattress I bought from Amazon.com is the slow leak it had/has. I can only get about 4 1/2 hrs of sleep before the matress changes from firm to flat. This of course wakes me and I have to refill it (push the button - producing a vacumn cleaner sound) to get it back to firm and return to sleep. I don't always get back to sleep for a couple of hours. I never had this problem (leaks) with my waterbed, and it lasted 25 years before that matress got a leak. One last thing, it's short. I'm 5'8" and seem to find either my head or feet always hanging out the top or bottom of the 60" length.

Don't use on a regular basis..
Reviewer: Cindy Brock   Atlanta, GA    04-17-2005
This bed was quite comfortable...so much so that I tried sleeping on it every night when I was experiencing a back problem. But, the problem them became that it would leak. I thought maybe the first one I purchased just had a hole. WRONG! Went through 4 others and they all had the identical problem. Even tried a larger size (QUEEN) and it went flat in a matter of days. If you plan to use it for occasional guests, you'll probably find it cheaper than buying a bed. Just don't count on it for long periods of time (like a summer break for a kid).

    LEAKS AIR!!
Reviewer: Lucinda M. Brown       05-04-2005
I bought 3 of these beds and they ALL leaked within a month! WAY too expensive for that to happen and I'm NOT the only one that has experienced this. They are NO Good for long term use and because the Leak is so small, I cannot find it to Repair it! I just have to continue to blow it up 5-6 times during the night! Awful!!

    Comfortable and long lasting
Reviewer: MamaDog       03-29-2005
I slept on a larger, Coleman air mattress at someone else's house and it was one of the worst night's sleep ever. So I was leery of this one, but really needed something for my child's friends for sleepovers. I found that I can even sleep on it. It holds nice and firm and has a quilted top for added comfort. But what has impressed me the most is that it stays full for a very long time. Now we use it almost as a permanent bed for my child who won't sleep in his own room. He sleeps on his Aerobed next to my bed nearly every night and I refill the air only once every month or two. And when you do have to refill it, it is as easy as touching a button. Stores away nicely too.

leaky, leaky and a bit of a disappointment
Reviewer: Anonymous       01-07-2005
I bought the bed after reading raving reviews. The bed was comfortable and I had great nights of sleep until last week. It leaked and I kept waking up feeling like I was in a rescue rubber raft. Now I'm back on my old futon until I can buy a real mattress. I was told that I could use the Aerobed as a normal mattress - not true. I spent a lot of money on something that is now sitting in my closet. For occasional use, I think this product is great but realistically, it's not a very good buy. Had I not experienced the air leaking, I would be adding more stars to the product but it only deserves a two star rating.

    Poor warranty- lasted 3 months
Reviewer: Charles I. Hughes   Louisville, Co. United States    12-14-2004
I bought one several years ago, and it started leaking in 3 months. It was under warranty, so I figured they'd have me ship it back. Much to my surprise their warranty proceedure consisted of shipping me one part at a time with repair instructions. After two shipments failed to correct the leak, I got a $20 coleman at my local discount store and that mattress has lasted years. This was a waste of around $150, and much hold time on the customer service line.

    Short on longevity!
Reviewer: Charles I. Hughes   New York    08-30-2004
The product was great for the first two to three months, however like many before noted holes started to pop up from no where and I was extremely careful with the product. I tried an assortment of glues to repair the product however a spawn of new holes would emerge within days. This a great product for short term usage not long term. I tried using it for my bed for one year, it lasted seven months with an assortment of botched repair attempts.

    Good while it lasted
Reviewer: Paulindc "oneillpindc"   Washington, DC United States    08-25-2004
I thought I was the only one with a leaking problem until I read the other reviews. Agree on all points that the bed is great for guests, but like others, mine started to spring leaks and I had to throw it away after having it for a little over a year.

A very expensive bed, that doesn't last
Reviewer: Gleraseg       08-06-2004
I purchased my AeroBed two years ago as a guest bed, and use it approximately 12 weekends a year. It does provide a comfortable sleep, and is very quick to set up. For the first six months, the AeroBed was simply incredible. Then the leaks started to come; first only occasionally, and then more frequently. It is now to the point where it requires three patches every weekend it is used. Moreover, all leaks come from the seams. Clearly this is a product that is not built to last. I regret spending the $180.00 for this bed. I emailed AeroBed with my concerns, and was told to call an 800 number. I'm too discouraged to follow up. I've decided to purchase the Coleman air mattress. At least if this bed leaks, we got what we paid for!

    Aero Bed
Reviewer: L. Hobson   Palmdale California    09-18-2005
I can't say enough about the Aero Bed, I use it when company comes and when I go camping. The bed pumps up very fast and ready in minutes. It stores great and when you're ready for it, its ready to go to work and give who ever sleeps on it a great nights sleep.

    the best money ever spent
Reviewer: Anonymous       06-03-2004
friends have used this bed for years, and i finally got one reciently. guests that use this bed at my home have no complaints and only praise in the morning.
the amazon.com product description does not mention that it does include the cloth mattress cover, so i purchased an additional one. when i got the product it did have the cloth mattress cover in the box. there is also some sort of covering that is directly on the PVC mattress itself so that the cloth cover doesnt slip off...very ingenious.

great for short-term, not a good idea for long-term use
Reviewer: Anonymous       04-05-2004
If you're going to be using this only for infrequent guests, this is a great product, truly is. Very comfortable to sleep on (surprisingly so), and fills up amazingly fast. (Heavy to carry from house to house, though, so I'd recommend it being a stationery, in house-thing.)
If you're going to be using this full-time, I don't recommend it. I used it for 3 months while I was in between beds (just moved to a new city, and didn't have time to get furniture right away), and at the 3rd month holes started to sprout, within the seams. Meaning, not holes from something accidentally poking it (I was very careful with it), but the seams themselves started to split open. Which means I spent $150 for a bed that only lasted 3 months. Not cool.

    Some night, you'll thank yourself
Reviewer: Joe Ekaitis   Rialto, CA USA    03-20-2004
When family and friends pull up roots and move to remote regions requiring an overnight stay when you pay them a visit, give them a nice send-off. Buy them an AeroBed or two. Better yet, throw a couple in the trunk of your own car with some pillows and bed linens.
Some night, you'll thank yourself.

Available in sizes from twin to king, the AeroBed is more than just the typical air mattress. The AeroBed is made of filament-reinforced heavy duty vinyl similar to the material used in inflatable carnival "bounce houses" and sealed with electronically welded seams. A cotton cover over the bed's surface of "comfort coils" makes the AeroBed feel more like an innerspring mattress and less like a glorified swimming pool raft. The permanently attached electric air pump inflates the AeroBed into a ready-to-sleep-in bed in just a minute, with no danger of overinflation, even if you leave the pump running for longer than a minute. If you find the fully-inflated AeroBed too firm, a "comfort control" release valve lets you soften it up. Provided you don't set the thing up on a bed of nails or a pile of broken glass, the AeroBed should last for years.

Every size of AeroBed uses ordinary bed linens. When it's time to put it away, a hinged master valve swings open to let all the air out in seconds. Roll it up, slip it back into its duffel bag and throw it back up on the closet shelf.

Considering that the typical $20 air mattress might give you one or two uses before a seam splits, the price of the twin size AeroBed is VERY reasonable.

    I Like It
Reviewer: BookGuy       03-17-2004
I wasn't so sure if I'd like my AeroBed. I ordered it because I needed somewhere to sleep if I had to pull an all-nighter at work. It had to be comfortable but easily stored in limited space, so I took a chance and bought the Twin Size Aerobed.
I expected some fairly cheap manufacture and inflated [pardon the pun] claims about its useabilty. Well, I was surprised.

The unit is very well made. They've got that down. The seams are sturdy, the material is thick, and the pump and valve are first-rate. What more could you ask?

I'm now a fan of the bed. I'd recommend it. Aero also sells a bunch of accessories on their website such as collapsible bed stands to get the inflatable mattress off the floor; inflatable pillows, etc. I opted for the inflatible pillow since it, too, is easy to store.

I think you'll be pleased that the bed is not cheaply made. I was.

    My bed
Reviewer: Anonymous       02-19-2004
I purchased my 2 months ago. I guess, it was design for occasional use only.
Since I am traveling consultant, who has to stay in different places (read rent apartments), I decided to buy one. 2 month later (it means 60 uses later) it started deflating. Yes it is great, if you will use it 5-6 times a year, it will last you 10 years.

Surprise...but this is a great product!
Reviewer: Anonymous   New York, NY    10-12-2003
I'd managed to avoid using the two "air mattresses" my mother keeps on hand for visitors...until last night. However, I was more than mildly surprised when my, "non-mechanical" daughter had her Aero Bed inflated and made in less than 5 minutes, which is no exaggeration! I took a bit longer as I was reading the instructions. Inflation could not be simpler: plug it in, make sure the valve on the other end is closed and push the button for about a minute. Voila...now make your bed.
Comfortable? Yes. We both slept very well, and there was no need to "top off" either of the two the mattress during the night as they stayed comfortably firm and appear to be very well made.

I figured it must be difficult getting the mattresses rolled up to fit in the carry bags...but again, it couldn't have been easier. Just open the valve to deflate, then fold the left and right sides into the middle. Roll up the mattress using the pump as your "core." Once rolled, close the valve, and put it back in the bag. This is so easy a child can do it...as my 11 year old daughter proved.

BTW - the electric cord with the power button is quite long - probably 10~12 feet - so you don't have to be close to an outlet. I also noticed a patch kit - just in case.

The Aero Bed worked great, and gave a good night's sleep. I'll be buying one of more of these before long. They'll be perfect for sleep-overs. It's a pleasure to write a 5 star review about something which has been well designed and well made - and I was initially a skeptic.

Very comfortable, but it leaks like the Titanic.

As for the folks that love them...well, I used to love mine, too.

Like sleeping on an inflated balloon
Reviewer: Steve   Sacramento, California    05-14-2006
Over the past 6 months I've gone through 2 raised Pillowtop Aerobeds. For the first 3 months the bed was great but then the pillowtop would fill with air from the chambers below it and blow up like a balloon .. making the bed impossible to sleep on. I'm told that this is a known defect with this bed. To think that I spent $500 for two of these beds!

Threw Away; won't buy another Aerobed
Reviewer: Anonymous       06-19-2006
I bought the twin Aerobed in Nov 2005 and used it every day. Starting in May 2006, a hole opened up in one of the dimples on the top. I've followed the instructions on patching it up but it continues to rip right along the dimple edge. I'm going to have to throw the bed away and probably buy a different brand.

What puzzles me is that my mom bought a twin Aerobed 5 years ago and still has it today without problems. The only difference I see is that back then, they were made in the US and mine was made in China. I'm guessing the company is using cheaper material.

I'm going to buy an Eddie Bauer or a Coleman and see how long they last.

    2 aerobeds = 5 leaks
Reviewer: Anonymous       07-20-2006
bought one and it leaked all 5 times I had overnite guests. I'd fix a leak and immediately another would spring up. 2 years later, bought another = leaked in 3 weeks. Customer Service said they'd replace it if I shipped it to them ... yeah right, like I'm gonna ship a 30 lb package. Every person I've known who bought an Aerobed said theirs leaked within 6 months. My net loss=$250.00. Don't buy Aerobed.
